One of the great benefits of having a massage therapy session is helping reduce the soreness of muscles from exercise. Whether the exercise is working out at the gym, playing a game of dodgeball, or too much dancing at the bar, a Registered Massage Therapist can isolate the sore areas and reduce the pain. These aches and pains can be from an injury to the area, a repetitive strain (like Beer Drinker’s Elbow), or just after workout soreness. A good therapeutic massage can reduce the tension of these areas and encourage the body to begin healing.

The best time to get a massage for post-exercise soreness is the next day. This allows the body to begin the healing process and allow some of the inflammation to be reduced.

Olympic athletes in Vancouver are benefiting from massage immediately after their events. Getting a massage right after exercise is very helpful in promoting blood flow and reducing the tension of the muscles after they have been working.

Whenever you go for a massage, be sure to tell the therapist when you last worked out. This will help them work the knots out in the best possible way for you.
