Tattoo Of the Week
Last week, in our latest business endeavour, The Quill got inked. While some might view it as advertising to the extreme, a long time Quill member, recently emblazoned The Quill onto their skin for a lifetime.
It was my first tattoo, but definitely not my last. While I had preconceived notions about how much it was going to hurt and what it would be like, I was proven wrong on all counts - in a very good way.
Trolsk’s tattoo artist Eric was assuredly one of the best artists I have ever encountered. I mean that sincerely; he was a pleasure to work with, designed beautiful custom work for me, and was professional throughout the whole experience.
Even more than that, this was not just a simple ink job. It was an experience, zen and calming and at one point I almost fell asleep.
Most pleasing was the fact that it didn’t hurt. It was mildly annoying, but being tattooed to The Wall (as in the music) was both surreal and added to the calming effect.
I can’t say enough about how wonderful the experience was, and how comfortable I felt at the hands of someone with 22 years experience in the business. It was clean, comfortable, and not creepy. There were a few interesting things I learned as well.
1) Eat a full meal about an hour before you go. It helps to keep your energy levels up and deal with the endorphins being released during the tattooing process.
2) Don’t put ointment on before bed. To me, that would have been the instinctive time to do it, but I guess not.
