It looks like the Bobcats will have to wait another year to crack the final four, after their fall Sunday afternoon (Feb 28th) to the TRU Wolfpack that put the final nail in the coffin for their 2009/2010 season.
Unfortunately, our 5th-ranked boys in blue fell victim to Thompson Rivers in our own den after the Wolfpack managed to force a tie breaking third game to decide each of their fate. This loss brought to a close the last Bobcat team alive in post-season play this spring.
The door closes on another scrappy season for last year’s CIS bronze medallists, in what feels like an unjust manner for the often underrated dark-horse squad that specialized in surprising the big boys.
Our own big boys, Ryan Phillips and Paul Sanderson were lighting up our scoreboard versus the rival team--with Phillips notching 10/19 kills, and Sanderson impressing (as can be expected) with a commanding 23. BU’s offensive aptitude aside, the Wolfpack made an authoritative argument in their apparent strategy of zeroing in on Sanderson and blocking him at all costs.
Fans will have to wait for next season to see the excitement and retribution that all four athletic squads will doubtlessly bring to the court.
