CIS Results: Basketball and Volleyball Championships

Although the Bobcat teams didn’t quite make the cut this year, here are the championship results in their respective groupings, as well as notes on how the Brandon squads measured up this year as opponents:

Men’s Volleyball:

Canada West Conference Champions—Alberta Golden Bears (Over Trinity Western)

At the end of January, the Bobcats scored an upset win vs. Alberta (3-2) in Brandon on a Friday night before falling to them (2-3) the following night.

Women’s Volleyball:

CIS Champions—UBC Thunderbirds (Over U of M)

January 15th and 16th saw the Thunderbirds visiting our Lady ‘Cats and coming out with a pair of road-wins, the first a tight 3-2, followed by a 3-0 sweep Saturday night.

Women’s Basketball:

Canada West Conference Champions—Simon Frazer University Clan (Over U of R)

Although the Women’s Bobcats basketball squad is on its way to convincing us that they can and will win, they were buried in November vs. SFU in a 102-43 loss.

Men’s Basketball:

Canada West Conference Champions—U of Saskatchewan Huskies (Over U of C)

At their meetings at U of S in November, the men’s team lost a painful 91-68 match to open their series with the Huskies. They rallied back in the second game, but still came out with a loss at 99-91.
