St. Patty’s At SUDS
Wednesday March 17th marked yet another year of Canadians dressing in their greenest attire (even though St. Patrick’s colour is actually blue) for a night of drunken costumed mayhem. My day started with a noon waking and straight over to my buddy’s place for jamming and beer. After a couple hours of playing groovy tunes, several Irish beers were drank along with some Jameson’s Irish whiskey. (A great start to St. Patrick’s day, wouldn’t you say?) The sun had already set by the time we decided to head to the Double Decker, which turned out to be a rather unintelligent idea because the place was flowing into the streets with people looking to get their “Irish” on by the time we arrived. So, with that plan shot, we decided to head back to Shane’s place for another round before going to SUDS.
We entered SUDS around ten or ten thirty to The Bad Marley’s taking stage – I didn’t really watch them, but they made for great background entertainment. There was a pretty decent crowd, nothing too crazy yet, but the place took no time at all to fill.
After grabbing a few well-priced drink tickets, I made my usual trip to the pool table only to come face to face with my greatest fear in a bar: no pool table. Although the tables were still there, the balls were not, so in effect it was just wasted space. But enough of that, let’s ge to the good part: the drinking!
Soon after my arrival I spotted many friendly and familiar faces, all with green beer to their lips, drinking, laughing and having tons of fun. Let my just revel in the memory of one last hurrah at SUDS.....ahhhhhh. Damn, that was one hell of a night – a night like what I remember SUDS being in the past.
With the pool tables down, the only rational idea was to grab some good looking women...and play foozeball! Epic tournaments on the fooze’ table lasted well into the night, and before I knew it it was closing time, aka: time for me to get my drunk ass to bed so that I could wake up and write the massive Human Sexuality exam I just came from.
In all St. Patty’s was a splendid night that went off without a hitch thanks to some pretty decent trial-by-fire bar tending from our president Steven Montague and Stacy Sinkbell, so hats of to them for making it happen.
And for those of you that were there, this is what SUDS has the potential for every weekend. Forget all that crap about moccachinos and sushi, we want more night like St. Patricks!
