Students newspapers gather at NASH
From January 11th to 16th, the EIC of The Quill attended the NASH conference, a yearly gathering of student newspapers from across the country, in Victoria, B.C. During the day, delegates attended panel discussions covering a wide number of different journalistic topics. Keynote speakers included radio veteran Alan Cross, the CBC’s Anna Maria Tremonti, sports writer Dave Zirin, and Esquire/ESPN reporter Chris Jones. Unfortunately, the conference ended with upwards of 100 of the 350 delegates catching a Norovirus, leading to a mass outbreak of vomiting and Twitter conversations about vomiting (click here for more on that). The Quill rep managed to escape unscathed, which he attributes to being anti-social.
If you would like to take a look at some of the newspapers we brought back, feel free to drop by the Quill office.
