If you’ve never been to Clear Lake you’re seriously missing out. It’s one of those rare places in Manitoba that makes you instantly feel lighter, like the world slows down the moment you step out of the car. Between the calm, clear water, the charming little town, and the trails surrounded by autumn colors, it’s the kind of spot that sticks with you long after you leave.

I’ve always loved Clear Lake for how versatile it is. Some days, it’s all about adventure like hiking through the trails in Riding Mountain National Park, spotting birds or even deer, and breathing in that fall air. Other days, it’s pure relaxation. I like sitting by the water with a coffee in hand, wandering through the different shops, or just taking a blanket and enjoying the quiet for a while. It’s a place that lets you do as much or as little as you want, and that’s part of what makes it so special.

By late September, the trees are putting on a full show, there’s reds, oranges, and yellows everywhere you look. The reflection on the lake makes the scenery even more magical. You can’t really capture it in photos, it’s something you have to experience in person. I always find myself stopping just to stare for a few minutes, completely forgetting about time.

This year, there’s an extra reason to check it out, the Office of International Activities (OIA) is hosting a school trip to Clear Lake on Saturday, September 27th. If you’ve been wanting a reason to go, this is it. It’s not just about seeing a beautiful spot, it’s also a great chance to meet other students, take a break from the busy start of the semester, and create memories you’ll actually remember. Trips like this are exactly what you need when classes start piling up and life on campus feels a little overwhelming.

Honestly, university can feel like a lot sometimes. There’s the stress of new schedules, new people, and trying to figure out your own routine. That’s why I think trips like Clear Lake are so important. They remind you to breathe, slow down, and just enjoy a moment for yourself and maybe make a few new friends along the way.

So, if you’ve never been before, consider this your sign. Clear Lake is more than just a pretty lake, it’s a little escape from the chaos, a chance to recharge, and honestly, one of those places you’ll want to return to again and again. Trust me, once you go, you’ll understand why it’s such a favorite for so many students.

Take a day for yourself, enjoy the scenery, and make the most of the start of your semester. Clear Lake is waiting, and it’s even more magical in the fall.
