SERC and the LGBTQ+ Collective Team Up

The Sexuality Education Resource Centre holds a queer* get together every month. They welcome everyone of all ages and expressions of self to come to this monthly gathering and meet new people. This is a great way to meet other people in the LGBT2SQ+ community and make connections. They will be holding a Get Together on October 13th from 6pm-9pm. The theme of this month’s meeting is “show and tell” and they encourage people who would like to attend to bring an item (or a few) that are special and significant and tell the story that goes along with that item, or to just bring stories. They note that if you would like to come out and just listen, you don’t have to share a story if you would prefer to be al listener instead. The meeting is located at SERC, Unit C, 1700 Pacific Avenue and if you have any questions or want more info you can email Brandon@serc.mb.ca. or call them at 204-571-3282.

SERC is open Monday-Friday from 9am-4pm generally but they are sometimes called out of the office due to the nature of their work. They are a non-profit and are pro-choice. SERC works with parents and families, aboriginal, LGBT*, Immigrants and Refugees, and Youth members of the communities they serve. If you would like to go to SERC they request that you ensure someone will be there and call 204-727-0417. SERC offers safer sex supplies, a free book lending library, info on sexual health and LGBT2SQ* counselling, info and support. They also do presentations, workshops and community outreach. They aim to be a judgement free space where people can go for advice and support, whether it be questions about sex, safe sex, or if someone is in the LGBT2SQ* community and needing support and resources. SERC will listen to your questions about sex and sexuality judgement free and can support you or offer resources.
