ACC Cougars' Hockey Season Off to a Great Start

On November 4th and 5th the Assiniboine Community College Cougars women’s hockey team played their first home games of the season against the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Blugolds. This was a profitable weekend for the Cougars, as they were able to start off the season well for their fans here at home with two consecutive wins against the visiting team. Both of these games report scores of 5-1 for the Cougars according to the team’s’ website.

Later that week in a press release on November 8th, 2017 the Assiniboine Community College Cougars announced that they would be holding a host of games this past Remembrance Day weekend. With games against two teams in the American Collegiate Hockey Association, the Lakehead University Thunderwolves from Thunder Bay, Ontario and the North Dakota State University Bisons from Fargo, North Dakota.

Going into the weekend the Cougars held season standings of 3-1-0-2. In comparison, the Thunderwolves’ standings were 5-1-0-0 and the Bisons standings were 3-3-0-0. All scores from the past four games this weekend were to count for regular season standings. As of press time the official scores from the recent games had not yet been posted to the Cougars website. According to the Cougars Twitter page, however, the team split a win and loss with the Thunderwolves and took a win against the Bisons.

The next game taking place in Brandon for the Cougars is on December 1st, 2017 at 7:30PM at the Sportsplex. At this time the team will take on the Minot State Beavers. This game will be followed be a rematch on Saturday, December 2nd at 10:15AM, again at the Sportsplex.
