The Assiniboine Cougars have added a new member to their team: women’s soccer coach Mark Murray. Murray will be the head coach for the women’s soccer and futsal teams for the 2017-2018 season. Murray was the assistant coach last season and is taking the reins from Brian Cornick. Both Murray and Cornick have coached multiple youth soccer teams and work closely together with the Brandon Youth Soccer Association (BYSA).

Murray was always a keen soccer player in his home country of Ireland and even played amateur soccer there. He has said that he is very excited to be part of the Assiniboine team and looks forward to helping the team grow in the upcoming season. Soccer is ahuge part of his life, and he made mention that it also influences his son, who is a keen player.

Assiniboine Community College has its soccer teams play in the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference, and have not been doing so hot these past few seasons. This past year they lost all ten of their games. Hopefully the Cougars will be able to pull away with something next year. Who knows, maybe this change in the coaching staff will lead to a few victories.

Best of luck to coach Murray! For any further information on ACC and the Cougars please check them out on  www.assiniboine.net/athletics.
