SERC 101

(Sexuality Education Resource Centre)

Now that everyone has survived the first few weeks at Brandon University, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce the Sexuality Education Resource Centre MB and our services that you may benefit from.

The Sexuality Education Resource Centre (SERC) is a community-based, non-profit, pro-choice organization committed to promoting sexual health through education. SERC Brandon is known for being a safe and friendly place where everyone can access information about sexual health. SERC provides community education on a variety of topics related to sexuality and sexual health including STBBIs, birth control and pregnancy options, consent, LGBT2SQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, two-spirit, queer and questioning) awareness and support and talking with your children about sexuality. Additionally, SERC offers free counseling and support to the LGBT2SQ+ community, as well as their friends and family members. SERC has a free lending library full of great books and DVD’s that may be helpful for writing research papers. SERC also offers a Facts of Life Program, where people can send confidential questions about sexuality and/or sexual health to thefactsoflife@serc.mb.ca. All questions will be responded to within two business days. SERC provides free safer sex supplies, like internal and external condoms, lubricant, oral dams, and gloves – no questions asked!

Please feel free to come by and check out the office, meet our friendly staff, and learn more about our programs and services. The SERC office is located at Unit C-1700 Pacific Avenue in Brandon. Our office is open Monday to Friday 9:00am -4:00 pm. For more information about SERC, please contact us at (204) 727-0417, or via e-mail at brandon@serc.mb.ca.
