The Quill: What do you feel most qualifies you for this position?

Armando Galindo: What I feel most qualifies me for the position of BUSU Residence Director is my value of Responsibility. As a mature student, I know the influence one has [as] a Role Model and in a Leadership position. I intend to use any opportunity given as a means to make a positive impact to those in need. I believe practicing this will prepare me as I work towards becoming a Psychiatric Nurse, who will advocate for others.

TQ: Please explain one goal that you would like to achieve in the position, should you be elected.

AG: One goal I have, if elected, is to really foster the student community on Campus, specifically Residence students. BUSU puts on great orientation events at the beginning of each term as ice-breakers and personal exploration opportunities. I would like to see students continued to be engaged throughout the term, so that a real sense of community is fostered and students would feel comfortable outside their dorm rooms.

TQ: What is your biggest personal achievement?

AG: My biggest personal achievement so far is graduating from Red River College from a Certificate Program. When I was fresh out of High School, I believed that it was the end of my learning journey, and that I was ready for the “Real World”. College taught me that I had much to learn, and that I could achieve a lot more if I really applied myself and put myself out there. This is a lesson I hope to share with the students at Brandon University.
